They will be investigating techniques to activate the historic Main Street corridor through a demonstration day event. Scope of the event includes the realigning of Main Street into a single traffic lane, replacing parallel parking with angled parking and adding a bike lane. Other elements include pedestrian crosswalks, public art, pocket parks, pop-up shops in vacant storefronts, enhanced public amenities such as planters, shade sails and lighting, and a public outreach studio for public participation. The public’s participation and feedback throughout the event will be used to create a Master Plan for the corridor that will be implemented in future phases. THIS EVENT HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED FOR DECEMBER 13 & 14.

The event kicks off with a short canine parade, after which awards for best dog costume, best owner/pet look alike costume, obedience, and others categories will be presented. There will also be a howling contest and the coronation of a king and queen based on essays submitted from the dog’s point of view.
