Celebrate the season at the Southdown Summer Social hosted at the Southdown Plantation & Museum. Guests will enjoy an evening of summer-inspired cuisine, cocktails, live music, and exclusive experiences while supporting the Terrebonne Historical & Cultural Society. Special guest Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser will be in attendance. The Southdown Summer Social is open to all adults and guests are encouraged to dress in their summer best business casual attire. Tickets are $75. These meetings are one of many efforts to outreach with and inform residents of projects and improvements taking place in Terrebonne Parish. Topics covered during these meeting include progress reports on: hurricane protection, roadway improvements, drainage, and upgrades to the recreation and quality of life offerings in Terrebonne. Each meeting will have a detailed presentation tailored to the particular location. Following each presentation will be a question and answer session.

Opioid Awareness

Attendees will have the opportunity to learn how to administer naloxone, also known as Narcan, a life saving medication that can reverse an opioid overdose. The event will also highlight local and regional resources, including support programs and organizations available to assist individuals and families affected by opioid use. In addition, participants will hear firsthand testimonies from overdose survivors who are now living healthy lifestyles.

Young anglers and outdoor explorers are invited to Junior Angler Day, a fun-filled morning of fishing-themed activities, creativity, and discovery for children ages 6–12. Thanks to the National Park Foundation and Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve, participants will learn about responsible fishing practices, aquatic ecosystems, and the importance of protecting Louisiana’s waterways through engaging, hands-on activities. Farmers Market for Local Farmers

Shop fresh, locally grown produce and community-made goods at the farmers market held every third Saturday of the month at Houma Airbase Park. Vendors may set up starting at 6:00 a.m., and the market opens to the public at 8:00 a.m. The market supports healthy living, improves access to fresh food and pantry items, and highlights local businesses while strengthening the regional economy. Vendor participation is open to growers, farmers, producers, processors, and craftsmen within a 75-mile radius of Houma, Louisiana, with occasional exceptions.

Celebrate Independence Day at the Good Earth Fourth of July Festival for a full day of patriotic fun as we also celebrate America’s 250th birthday. The day kicks off with a parade at 12 PM, followed by the car show and kids zone opening at 1 PM. At 2 PM, enjoy the hot dog and pie eating contests, and live music begins at 3 PM. Throughout the day, enjoy great food, outdoor activities, and family-friendly entertainment. Bring your lawn chairs, bring the kids, and come hungry for the food trucks! End the evening with a spectacular fireworks show at 9 PM.
