Get a jump-start on spring by joining the Wetlands Discovery Center for the Good Earth Market on Saturday, April 1, 2017, from 9AM to 3PM. The Good Earth Market is a celebration for garden enthusiasts with booth spaces available to vendors from all aspects of the gardening and farming industry. This annual market includes educational workshops on native plants, bee keeping, and raising backyard chickens. Vendors will be selling native plants, vegetables, Louisiana irises, ornamental plants, orchids, roses, fresh eggs, baby chicks, local honey, jams, jellies, sun catchers, and lots more.

We will have music, food, games, craft booths and crafts for the kids. All benefiting Ochsner's Child Life Department.

Southdown Marketplace is a one-day arts & crafts festival featuring more than 300 local and national vendors with unique hand-made products including jewelry, clothing, woodcrafts, original art, garden items, seasonal products and more.
Also featured is a huge selection of Cajun food favorites like jambalaya, gumbo, red beans & rice, and corn soup. Tours of Southdown Plantation & Museum will also be available.
All proceeds benefit the non-profit Terrebonne Historical & Cultural Society and Southdown Plantation & Museum.

Kids in grades pre-K – 7th grade are welcome. The event is free to the public, and the first 250 kids will receive a free backpack. To create awareness about heart disease prevention, CIS is hosting a free electrocardiogram (EKG) screening. An EKG is a painless test that records the electrical signals of the heart. The screening can detect blockages, the thickness of the heart wall, past heart attacks and more. Screening results will be reviewed onsite, and CIS providers will be providing personal health risk assessments as well as heart-healthy educational presentations. The event will also include various smoking cessation education presentations. Risk factors of cardiovascular disease include family history of heart disease, high cholesterol, high blood pressure and diabetes, as well as smoking, being overweight or being inactive. Paddling trip down through the waters of Bayou Petit Caillou. Grab a friend or your child and find a pirogue, canoe, kayak, paddle board, or any non-motorized boat for a 5-mile paddling journey that includes a rest stop at the Chauvin Sculpture Garden. The journey ends at the Little Caillou Volunteer Fire Department for a crawfish boil and live music. Tickets are $30 for adults ages 18 years and up and $20 for children ages 6-17 years. Tickets include light breakfast, lunch, and t-shirt. Kayak rentals are available for an extra $15.00 (reservation required).

This fourth annual event honors the memory of Stephen Louviere II and raises money to support local youth shooting sports organizations. This event is open to all shooters.

SUP Yoga is yoga performed on stand-up paddleboards in a safe pool environment. All boards are linked to the pool lane runners with enough room between each board for "falling" and cooling off. Houma Christian School's inaugural 5K and Fun Run. Walkers and runners are welcome! There is a "Best Dressed" contest for the one who best reflects how to bright their inner light shines. Registration will continue until race day.

This event is a free, educational statewide initiative designed to teach children how to start, own, and operate their own lemonade business. Children can enter for a chance to win best tasting lemonade, most creative stand, and best salesmanship. Prizes will be awarded to the first place winner in each category. The 2017 Rougarou Fest queen will be selected during this year’s Rougarou Ball to be held 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday, May 6, 2017, at the Houma Municipal Auditorium, 880 Verret St., Houma. Creative teams will present their queen contestant dressed in a “Swamp Thing” theme during the Ball where judges will crown the 2017 Rougarou Fest Queen. Tickets for the Ball are $75 per person with proceeds supporting the South Louisiana Wetlands Discovery Center. There will be food, drinks, a live and silent auction, and live music provided. Guests are asked to wear their best Swamp Chic attire. It’s cocktail attire with a flair that only South Louisiana can bring! The event welcomes special celebrity guest, Adrienne Barbeau, from the 80s classic film “Swamp Thing.” The Wetlands Discovery Center will also present the John W.
