Grant from Keep Louisiana Beautiful to Enhance Downtown Area

Terrebonne Parish has been awarded a grant from Keep Louisiana Beautiful to support downtown beautification efforts through the Main Street Program. As part of this initiative, decorative garbage cans have been strategically placed throughout the revitalized downtown area, which has experienced significant growth in commerce over the past six months.

The placement of these cans is intended to encourage proper waste disposal, contributing to a cleaner and more inviting environment for residents and visitors. In partnership with Terrebonne Parish Consolidated Government, the cans will be maintained and cleaned on a weekly basis.

The Main Street Program continues to highlight and support the contributions of local businesses such as The Bunker, The Round Up, and The Boxer & the Barrel, which are driving foot traffic and offering diverse experiences, including dining, nighttime entertainment, and indoor sports.

“This grant is a testament to our community’s commitment to creating a vibrant and welcoming downtown,” said Anne Picou, Cultural Enrichment Administrator. “We are grateful for the support from Keep Louisiana Beautiful and look forward to building upon the progress made in recent months.”

Terrebonne Parish thanks Keep Louisiana Beautiful for its support and remains dedicated to fostering a thriving, clean, and welcoming downtown Houma for all.
