Field Technician II

Terrebonne Parish Consolidated Government’s Field Technician II is responsible for performing and assisting with the inspection, maintenance, repair, and operation of parish bridges and associated infrastructure.

In this role, the incumbent will be expected to assist with the maintenance, repair, and operation of parish bridges and related infrastructure, support traffic control devices and bridge operations, perform manual and skilled labor using appropriate tools, respond to emergency and on-call assignments, and work safely and cooperatively under varying conditions.

  • Valid Louisiana driver’s license

  • Assist with the inspection, maintenance, repair, and operation of parish bridges and related infrastructure on a routine and emergency basis.
  • Perform manual and skilled labor using hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment in support of bridge and traffic operations.
  • Support the maintenance, repair, and adjustment of traffic control devices, including traffic lights, flashing signals, caution lights, and lenses.
  • Conduct vehicle inspections and perform routine vehicle and equipment maintenance.
  • Deliver bridge supplies and materials to bridge houses and work sites as required.
  • Assist with bridge openings on unmanned bridges and participate in a rotational on-call schedule.
  • Perform grounds maintenance at bridge locations and yard facilities, including grass cutting and general upkeep.
  • Assist with adjusting flashing light timers and other equipment during seasonal time changes.
  • Support hurricane preparedness activities, emergency response efforts, and other critical events as directed.
  • Assist with the installation of No Wake signs in parish waterways.
  • Attend required training, including LTAP training, to maintain knowledge of safety practices and operational procedures.
  • Provide assistance to the Roads Division and other departments as needed.
  • Participate in quarterly One-on-One meetings with Supervisor.
  • Complete all required annual trainings—including ethics, harassment prevention, diversity, and cybersecurity—in accordance with organizational and regulatory standards.
  • Ensure all duties and responsibilities are performed with integrity, professionalism, and in good faith, consistently upholding and protecting the interests, reputation, and assets of the Parish government.
  • Perform any additional task as required by Supervisor.

  • Qualifications:
    • High School Diploma or GED certificate preferred.
