Telemetry Superintendent

Terrebonne Parish Consolidated Government’s Telemetry Superintendent is responsible for overseeing the daily operations, maintenance, and development of all parish telemetry and SCADA systems.

In this role, the incumbent will be required to ensure system reliability, support infrastructure improvements, supervise staff, and collaborate with internal departments, contractors, and the public to ensure effective service delivery and operational efficiency.

The Telemetry Superintendent also plays a critical role in ensuring regulatory compliance, safety standards, and emergency preparedness across all Telemetry Division activities.

  • Valid Louisiana driver’s license

  • Perform welding, cutting, fitting, and fabrication of steel components to repair and maintain pump station infrastructure and equipment.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair pump systems and components, including mechanical and structural parts.
  • Assist the Pump Maintenance Crew with day-to-day operations at multiple pump stations.
  • Meet daily with the Operations Supervisor to receive work assignments and job priorities.
  • Operate and maintain assigned tools, welding equipment, and service vehicles in safe and functional condition.
  • Conduct weekly routine inspections of vehicle inventory and ensure all supplies and tools are adequately stocked.
  • Attend monthly safety meetings to stay informed on departmental protocols and best practices.
  • Travel to job sites as needed to assess repair requirements and procure necessary materials.
  • Purchase supplies, parts, and welding materials when needed to complete repair and fabrication tasks.
  • Collaborate with other Divisions and Supervisors across the department as required.
  • Perform assigned pump route checks to verify operational status of pump stations and report issues promptly.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of work performed and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Follow all applicable safety rules and environmental regulations, including proper PPE usage and hazard awareness.
  • Be available for overtime, after-hours, and weekend work as needed, including working in varying outdoor conditions.
  • Complete all required annual training, including Ethics, Sexual Harassment, and Diversity Training.
  • Perform any additional task as required by Supervisor.

  • Organizational Skills: Adept at managing complex workflows, maintaining accurate records, tracking maintenance schedules, and overseeing procurement and budgeting processes.
  • Technical Skills: Comprehensive knowledge of telemetry and SCADA systems, including the ability to troubleshoot equipment, oversee software functionality, and ensure compliance with technical specifications. Strong computer skills are essential, including proficiency in data entry, digital work order systems, and the ability to learn and navigate specialized software relevant to public works and infrastructure management.
  • Qualifications:
    • High school diploma or GED required; additional technical training or certification in SCADA systems, automation, or public works operations is highly desirable.
    • Minimum of five (5) years of hands-on experience working with automation and SCADA systems, including system monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
    • At least two (2) years of supervisory or management experience in a related technical or public works environment.
