Senior Equipment Operator - Camera Truck

Terrebonne Parish Consolidated Government’s Senior Equipment Operator – Camera Truck is responsible for the daily operation and maintenance of the camera inspection truck and associated CCTV equipment.

In this role, the incumbent will be expected to oversee the inspection of sewer lines, identification of structural or service issues, video indexing, and directing support crews in cleaning and inspection operations.

This position plays a key role in maintaining the integrity of the wastewater collection system and ensuring all activities are in line with safety standards and municipal requirements.

  • Valid Class D Louisiana Chauffer’s License
  • LA DHH-OPH Wastewater Collection Certification, or ability to obtain
  • Home phone service for emergency call-out purposes.

  • Maintain, inspect, and perform routine upkeep on the camera inspection truck and all CCTV equipment to ensure operational readiness.
  • Operate camera truck and remote-controlled CCTV units to inspect sewer gravity systems, identify structural and service issues, and accurately locate sewer laterals.
  • Review daily work orders and underground utility locate requests; ensure all assigned tasks are addressed in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to internal and external communications, including emails related to work assignments and operational updates.
  • Direct and coordinate field crews performing sewer line cleaning and camera inspection activities, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and operational standards.
  • Review and archive inspection footage, maintaining accurate records within the video indexing system.
  • Ensure all required field reports, work orders, and inspection documentation are completed accurately and submitted to office staff as scheduled.
  • Verify that field personnel are equipped with and utilizing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and traffic control signage in compliance with safety regulations.
  • Charge and maintain batteries for all electronic equipment, and ensure all tools, cables, and accessories are properly stored on the camera truck.
  • Generate new work orders for identified issues such as broken pipes, inflow and infiltration (I&I), and other structural defects.
  • Conduct weekly meetings with the direct supervisor to review progress, resolve issues, and discuss resource needs.
  • Ensure the camera truck remains stocked with necessary supplies and equipment, and that all vehicle lighting systems are fully operational.
  • Input corrections and updates into the Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping platform based on inspection findings.
  • Perform monthly functionality checks on all camera and inspection equipment; request repairs or replacements as needed. 
  • Coordinate and schedule regular preventative maintenance for the camera truck and associated systems.
  • Clean and maintain all equipment monthly and ensure the video index remains current and accurate.
  • Inspect and evaluate the condition of safety equipment monthly, submitting requisitions for replacements or upgrades.
  • Collaborate with the supervisor to submit warehouse stock orders and maintain inventory levels.
  • Participate in quarterly reviews of work orders, repair records, and inspection data to identify opportunities for process improvement in pollution control operations.
  • Attend required quarterly meetings to maintain professional certifications and stay informed of regulatory updates.
  • Contribute to the annual budget process by providing input on new or replacement equipment needs.
  • Complete all required annual training, including cybersecurity, ethics, diversity, and certification courses relevant to wastewater collection and inspection technologies.
  • Assist field crews with inspections, smoke and dye testing, and sewer system evaluations as needed.
  • Support storm documentation efforts and assist with emergency locates or other fieldwork during high-demand periods.
  • Conduct minor adjustments and updates to the GIS mapping system, as necessary.
  • Perform any additional task as required by Supervisor.

  • Communication Skills: Proficient in conveying clear instructions to crews, reporting findings to supervisors, and responding professionally to emails and inquiries.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to maintain detailed inspection records, manage work orders, and ensure all equipment and supplies are properly documented and stored.
  • Technical Skills: Competent in operating CCTV inspection systems, GIS software, and performing routine diagnostics, maintenance, and minor repairs on specialized sewer equipment.
  • Qualifications:
    • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
