The Terrebonne Parish Tree Board awards the Tree-Mendous Tree Award four times a year to recognize regionally appropriate trees that have received stewardship from individuals, organizations, businesses, or government. These outstanding, “tree-mendous” trees promote community engagement and improve the quality of life in Terrebonne Parish. The award serves to recognize and applaud the stewards of these trees.
The 2019 Tree-Mendous Tree Award recipients are as follows:
1st Quarter: Presented to Dane Voisin, store manager for Raising Canes on Grand Caillou Road for their landscaping and persistent care and maintenance of their teddy bear magnolias, crepe myrtles, knock out roses, irises, and Indian hawthorne.
2nd Quarter: Presented to Board Chair Carlos Alaro and gym supervisor Danny Picou of Montegut Recreation District 6 for their diligent care of the live oaks on parish properties.
3rd Quarter: Presented to Glenny Lee Buquet for her life's dedication to preserving trees and her beautifully landscaped residence on Bayou Black Drive.
4th Quarter: Presented in memorial of Samuel Myers McAllister Jr. for his dedication and diligence to the Terrebonne Parish Tree Board and public trees. Mr. McAllister served as tree board secretary and committee chair. A tree will be planted in his honor at St. Matthew's Episcopal School.
