Mr. Daniel "Danny" Babin

Daniel “Danny” Babin has returned to the Terrebonne Parish Council representing District 7. His love for Terrebonne Parish and its people makes him willing to serve a third time.

He is a 1966 graduate of Terrebonne High School and a 1970 graduate of Nicholls State University with work toward a Masters degree. This gives him the educational background needed to represent the citizens of District 7 and all of Terrebonne Parish.

Danny has been married for 55 years to Bernadette Marcello Babin. They have two daughters, one granddaughter, and one grandson. He is a Catholic and parishioner at St. Francis Cathedral.

Danny has served the public in many capacities, including:

  • Member of the School Board at St. Francis de Sales Catholic School
  • President of the School Board at Vandebilt Catholic High School
  • President of the American Shrimp Processors Association
  • President of the Louisiana Shrimp Association
  • Chairman of the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission, appointed by two governors, and a member of the Louisiana Shrimp Task Force by a third governor.
  • Chairman of the Houma-Terrebonne Regional Planning and Zoning Commission appointed under two parish presidents
  • Councilman of District 7 for nine (9) years, serving as Vice Chairman, Public Service Chairman, MPO Chairman, and many Committees during his nine (9) years as a Councilman.

Danny is also a graduate of Leadership Terrebonne and a proud veteran of the United States Army Louisiana National Guard.
