This is the 4th Houmapalooza Music Festival to be held, the first one was held in April 2011. This bi-annual event is quickly drawing outside attention from bands and music lovers. Houmapalooza’s goals are to provide a performance opportunity for musicians who write and perform their own original music, and to continue a long tradition of outdoor festivals in South Louisiana. A recent addition to the festival includes a week-long music themed workshop and lecture series leading up to the festival. Musicians can learn how to copyright their music, and hear various lectures from local experts about different music subjects. The workshop schedule and details can be found at www.houmapalooza.com. The workshop and lecture series is partially supported by a grant from the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and Foundation, Inc.
