Southdown Marketplace is a one-day arts & crafts festival featuring more than 300 local and national vendors with unique hand-made products including jewelry, clothing, woodcrafts, original art, garden items, seasonal products and more.
Also featured is a huge selection of Cajun food favorites like jambalaya, gumbo, red beans & rice, and corn soup.
Tours of Southdown Plantation & Museum will also be available.
All proceeds benefit the non-profit Terrebonne Historical & Cultural Society and Southdown Plantation & Museum.
This family-friendly, alcohol-free event takes place rain or shine.
Entrance fee is $5 per person; children under 12 get in free. Additional charges for food, drinks, and museum tours.

Kids in grades pre-K – 7th grade are welcome. The event is free to the public, and the first 250 kids will receive a free backpack.
Kids can participate in obstacle courses, exercise and basketball stations, and create their own smoothies at the smoothie bike station. Kids who visit all of the stations will be entered to win a Fit Bit, bike, or scooter.

To create awareness about heart disease prevention, CIS is hosting a free electrocardiogram (EKG) screening.
An EKG is a painless test that records the electrical signals of the heart. The screening can detect blockages, the thickness of the heart wall, past heart attacks and more. Screening results will be reviewed onsite, and CIS providers will be providing personal health risk assessments as well as heart-healthy educational presentations. The event will also include various smoking cessation education presentations.
Risk factors of cardiovascular disease include family history of heart disease, high cholesterol, high blood pressure and diabetes, as well as smoking, being overweight or being inactive.
