Responsibilities of Vegetation & Mosquito Control
 

Primary responsibilities of this Division are to maintain the Vegetation along Parish Roads, Streets, Levees, Drainage Laterals, Drainage Canals, Boulevards, Cemeteries and Various Locations around the parish, which includes grass cutting and tree trimming. Also, oversees Mosquito Control Program.  With a work force of approximately 16 employees, the responsibilities of this Division vary considerably performing the following task and services.


  • Coordinates Contractual Services for selected areas of the Parish
  • Manages Annual Mosquito Control Contract (Daily spraying, larviciding & aerial spraying applications).
  • Manage Vegetation Maintenance Contractor with respect to Drainage Levees, Laterals, City Parks, Boulevards, Cemeteries and various locations.
  • Participates in parish wide beautification programs (landscaping)
  • Coordinates grass cutting & tree trimming with other departments.
  • Control vegetation growth within the City limits near sidewalks and curbs
