Several departments fall under the Department of Public Safety:

• Houma Fire Department
• Houma Police Department
• Juvenile Detention Center
• Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (OHSEP)

The Houma Police Department operates only within the city limits of Houma. The Houma Fire Department operates within the city limits but will go outside the city limits as a secondary response when requested.
