The Treatment Division is responsible for operation, maintenance, repair and replacement of all wastewater treatment facilities and for ensuring that all wastewater discharged from parish facilities complies with state permit effluent limitations.

Personnel are on call 24 hours per day to respond to your service needs. Should you have any questions or experience a problem with your wastewater utility, you may contact one of the above phone numbers.

Your wastewater utility consists of (Approximately):

  Customer units 28,100

  Sewer Manholes 5,700
  Sewer Force Mains 120 miles
  Sewer Lift Stations 158

All users of the wastewater system are assessed a monthly sewer user charge which is reflected on the water bill provided by the Terrebonne Parish Consolidated Waterworks District No.1. Ordinance No. 6940, adopted November 17, 2004, amended the Parish code pertaining to Sewer User Charges.

Sewer User Charges are Summarized as follows

Fixed Charges
All customers, except hotels/motels $7.00 per month
Hotels/Motels (total rooms) $3.00 per month
Occupied Apartment units/Trailer Park spaces $7.00 per month

User Charges
  All customers

$1.69 per 1,000 gallons of water used

The user charge of $1.69 became effective for the year 2005 and escalates annually by $0.03 per 1,000 gallons through the year 2009. For the year 2008, the user charge of $1.78 is in effect and will be adjusted in January, 2009, to $1.81 per 1,000 gallons.

An example of the monthly sewer bill for the year 2008 would be calculated as follows

If a residential customer uses 8,000 gallons per month, the bill would be

  Fixed Charge $   7.00
  User Charge:   $1.78 x 8 = $ 14.24
  Total bill $ 21.24

Terrebonne Parish Government is genuinely concerned about the quality of life in the parish as well as the preservation of our natural resources. Being a coastal community, parish residents utilize the area lakes, bays and bayous extensively for recreation and for their livelihood. The discharge of untreated or partially treated wastewater into our environment threatens our water quality and thus, our quality of life. Therefore, proper collection and treatment of wastewater is essential to our community.
