Storm Recovery Efforts and Long Term Planning

The Gustav/Ike Recovery Plan was approved July 14, 2009 by the State through the Louisiana Recovery Authority. The plan outlines the Parish goals for applying $133 million of Community Development Block Grants funds disbursed for Hurricanes Gustav and Ike. The Parish is now implementing the plan which includes:

  • Over $73 million in Levees
  • Over $17 million in drainage and sewerage improvements
  • Over $25 million in housing initiatives

The remainder will be spent on other infrastructure and economic development projects. The Parish is moving through the process of having each individual project or program approved, permitted and implemented. See links below for the Gustav/Ike Recovery Application and project list.

The Parish has also applied for $21.8 million in Hazard Mitigation Grant funds from Hurricane Gustav. Those applications will be posted here soon as we continue to improve the webpage. The Parish is striving to provide relevant and timely information to residents and individuals and businesses considering relocating to Terrebonne Parish.
