• Cleanup and boom maintenance are the crews’ top priorities.

Wednesday: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 1pm. Mostly sunny and hot, with a high near 98. Heat index values as high as 113. Calm wind becoming south around 5 mph.

Wednesday Night: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly cloudy, with a low around 80. West wind around 5 mph.

Thursday: Scattered showers and thunderstorms. Partly cloudy, with a high near 93. West wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Cleanup Progress

• Continued beach reconnaissance and manual recovery of discovered oil.

• All recovery operations are to follow the general shoreline treatment recommendations established for Timbalier Bay and Terrebonne Bay.


2) Oil impact reports:

• Assessment team reports the following:

• Team reported from the western end of West Timbalier Island that they observed a long line of sea foam and emulsion, running north-south approximately ¼ mile-1/2 mile long by 3 feet in dimension.


3) Fishing Closures:

• Louisiana state officials on Friday reopened a large section of waters east of the Mississippi River for shrimp and finfish harvesting after consultation and lab tests approved by the federal Food and Drug Administration.

• The only closures that remain are mapped below.
