Secretary of the Navy to Hold Public Meeting in Terrebonne

Parish President Michel Claudet is pleased to announce that Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus will be holding a public meeting in Terrebonne Parish on Thursday, August 5.

President Obama has charged Secretary Mabus with developing a long-term Gulf Coast Restoration Plan. The plan will consider economic development, community planning, restoration of the ecosystem and environment, public health efforts and assistance to individuals and businesses impacted by the spill in the Gulf.

This meeting will take place at the Houma Terrebonne Civic Center (346 Civic Center Blvd., Houma) and is scheduled to begin at noon.

The public and media are encouraged to attend. There will be an opportunity for residents to discuss long-term economic and environmental restoration ideas with the Secretary. The meeting will last about an hour and a half.
