SUMMARY:
The Planner / GIS assists in all planning functions associated with the Planning & Zoning department, and typically handles all computer related activities including GIS activities.
BASIC FUNCTIONS:
01) Responsible for the management of the overall computer-mapping program.
02) Assists in duties prescribed within the Comprehensive Plan.
03) Responsible for performing mapping requests related to demographic data.
04) Responsible for performing other work assigned by supervisor.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
01) Must have at least five (5) years minimum of GIS experience with good knowledge of computers, i.e. (Computer Science degree or related curriculum may be substituted).
02) Must have the ability to work independently.
03) Must have strong communication skills.
04) Must have some familiarity with geographic area.
05) Must have the ability to work well with the public.
06) Must have the ability to work through windows environment.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s Degree in Planning, or Computer Science or a minimum of five (5) years proven experience in GIS related field.
