SUMMARY:

The Senior Planner is a diverse position, which encompasses the mixing of land – use principles and practices, management of the daily affairs of the building permits office, the development and procurement of various projects, acquisition of rights-of-ways management of the computer GIS/traffic modeling/data, and all other facets involving the Planning & Zoning department.

BASIC FUNCTIONS:

01) Responsible for the general management and administration of the regulatory division, which includes, but is not limited to: the receipt and issuance of building/parades/taxi cab /letters of no objection permits, and the administering of all local codes and ordinances.
02) Responsible for making recommendation to the Zoning Commission on zoning issues.
03) Responsible for planning and procurement of all Federal, State and local projects.
04) Responsible for reviewing and conducting all the traffic impact analysis for all related commissions, Parish Council and in-house requests.
05) Responsible for informing local authority on traffic control issues.
06) Responsible for management of the computer GIS, Traffic Modeling, and data management.
07) Responsible for future planning issues including the updating of the comprehensive plan.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

01) Must be familiar with Land-Use principles and practices.
02) Must be able to communicate and work well with the general public.
03) Must be willing to accept other work assigned by supervisor.
04) Must have good knowledge of local geography.
05) Must keep good work ethics.
06) Must be able to manage employees.

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Masters Degree in Urban & Planning, or Bachelor’s Degree in Urban & Regional Planning with a minimum of three (3) years experience with land-use transportation planning.
