SUMMARY:

Works under the direct supervision of the Information systems Manager. The primary responsibility of this position is to maintain the parish presence on the World Wide Web, develop new sites as needed, and assist Network / Systems Administrator in daily operation of the network, GIS computer system, intranet, and midrange system. Perform all duties listed under Basic Function.

BASIC FUNCTIONS:

01) Maintains parish presence on the World Wide Web.
02) Maintains daily operations of web server, intranet, and midrange system.
03) Must be able to use HTML editing and image editing software for development of web pages.
04) Assists Network/ systems Administrator in maintaining GIS and network system security including password control and regulating access to data files and system hardware components.
05) Perform complete assembly, installation, setup, upgrade and testing of servers, work stations, personal computers, displays, peripheral equipment and any other computer related equipment and make them part of the LAN, WAN and /or midrange computer system.
06) Remove, install and upgrade application and operation system software.
07) Provide assistance to users for general hardware, communication and operating system problems.
08) Assist Network/Systems Administrator in collecting price information regarding new installation and upgrading of personal computer equipment and software.
09) Must be able to use vendor supplied manuals and procedures for determining computer failures s to be software, hardware or communications related, and to initiate the appropriate action for accomplishing proper resolution.
10) Perform data and system backup as per assigned schedule (requires some shift work).
11) Remove, install, relocate and test network and midrange system cables and connectors.
12) When instructed or scheduled, be on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
13) Perform any and all other duties as required or instructed.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

01) Must obtain and maintain security clearance through Houma Police Department’s background investigation.
02) Must have a valid Louisiana Driver’s License.
03) Be able to physically move and setup personal computers, monitors, printers and other related computer equipment.

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

01) College degree in Computer Science from an accredited college or university. Consideration will be given to equivalent experience and/ or computer related courses from business colleges or schools.
02) At least two years experience developing web pages. Knowledge of HTML, Firewalls, Adobe Photoshop, Imageready, Macromedia Flash, Shockware, Frontpage, and other Internet applications is highly desirable
03) At least two years experience with the operations and installation of PC based network systems. Knowledge of the latest versions of Microsoft Office, Windows Operating System and Windows NT network using TCPIP protocol, Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, media converters, hard wire and leased T-1, 56k, Frame Relay, Multi-mode and Single-mode fiber optics, network routers and network switching, VLAN, xDSL, Intergraph’s slate of GIS products, Oracle RDBMS, and IBM AS/400 midrange computer systems is highly desirable.
04) Experience in developing scalable, fast-loading web pages, is preferred.
