Terrebonne Parish Consolidated Government retains
partial self-insurance for Property, Casualty and Employee Group
Health Benefits Insurance at the highest practical level. This
department is responsible for an organized and aggressive loss
control program, safety management, and accident/injury prevention
program. The present Employee Benefit package includes: Medical,
Dental, Prescription Card, Short Term Disability, Long Term
Disability and Basic Life Insurance. The Parish also has voluntary
coverage for Vision, Accidental Death and Term Life. All are
covered under a cafeteria plan (Section 125). The Risk Management
Department manages a complex
program whereby minimizing substantial insurance
cost relating to its multi-million dollar operation through
retention of risks in its various operational areas. The Department
also works to identify exposures, reduce liabilities and protect
Parish assets and employees through the maintenance of healthy and
safe working conditions, safety and prevention training for the
reduction of Worker’s Compensation and Liability claims, effective
processing and investigation of medical and litigated claims, and
compliance with OSHA regulations.
