Our Mission

The Terrebonne Parish Animal Shelter's mission is to balance the health, safety, and welfare of the people and animals by:

  • protecting the rights of people from the dangers and nuisances caused by uncontrolled animals
  • ensuring the protection of animals from mistreatment
  • promoting and motivating responsible pet ownership

Our Services

The Animal Shelter provides a variety of services:

  • catching stray, lost, or dangerous animals
  • housing unwanted pets
  • administering an adoption program
  • assisting the public in animal related problems
  • responding to eminent situations regarding animals

The Animal Shelter also works in conjunction with local law enforcement for after hour, weekend, and holiday emergencies.

Terrebonne Parish Animal Shelter announces...    
Reading Tales to Wagging Tails   
A program that allows children in our community to come to the shelter & read to our adoptable animals. Reading aloud to animals can boost literacy skills for children while providing enrichment to the animals. A reading adventure for children of all ages. Children can bring their favorite books or use ours. Parent/guardian supervision is required while readers are on site.
