INTRODUCTION
Keeping Terrebonne Parish beautiful is the responsibility of every citizen, young and old. It is the responsibility that goes beyond basic ordinance requirements, reaching instead to higher community standards that will increase the livability of our neighborhoods. This information has been developed to assist citizens in identifying some of their property maintenance responsibilities, and when to report violations.

WELCOME:
On September 26, 2001 the Terrebonne Parish Council adopted ordinance number 6492 consolidating various administrative provisions concerning the abatement of nuisances into one standard provision to facilitate uniform enforcement for the greater benefit of the citizens of Terrebonne Parish. These regulations are known, cited and referred to as the Nuisance Abatement Ordinance, Chapter 14 of the Terrebonne Parish code.

PURPOSE:
The purpose of these provisions includes but is not limited to the following protections:
1.To protect and provide for the public health, safety, and general welfare of the citizens of Terrebonne Parish.

2.To ensure a healthful living environment through the abatement of noxious derelict structures, accumulations, trash, garbage, junked vehicles, abandoned vessels and other unsanitary conditions that are a menace to the health of people residing in the vicinity thereof, or present a more than ordinarily dangerous fire hazard in the vicinity where it is located; and

 3. Eliminate conditions, which are conducive to the harborage of rats, mice, snakes and other vermin.
