Public Hearing: CDBG Elevation Cost Share Program

Application for CDBG Elevation Cost Share Program Public Hearing The Terrebonne Parish has called a hearing regarding an application for funding resulting from hurricanes Isaac to receive public comment. Terrebonne Parish has received an opportunity to apply for $300,000 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding to assist Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) elevation grant homeowners to provide the required cost share, generally 10% or 25%. These funds will be limited to those who are determined to be low to moderate income and will not exceed $30,000 per household. The funding is made available from the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development through the Louisiana Office of Community Development/ Disaster Recovery Unit as part of the State of Louisiana Partial Action Plan No.1 for the Utilization of Community Development Block Grant Funds in Response to Hurricane Isaac (Action Plan). All applicants must be low to moderate income and be in an approved program, in an application awaiting approval, or eligible and willing to apply for the severe repetitive loss program expected to be open to applicants in June 2014. The funding is CDBG and it is intended for certain uses. Each project must meet at least one CDBG national objective. The national objectives are Eliminating Slum and Blight, Benefit to Low to Moderate Income Persons, or Urgent Need. This project will meet the national objective of Benefiting Low to Moderate Income Persons. The public hearing will be held: Monday, March 24th at 4:30 Council Conference Room 8026 Main Street, Sixth Floor Houma, LA 70360. Homeowner application materials and information on low to moderate income standards will be available. A printed version of the proposed application or the Action Plan is available in the Recovery Assistance and Mitigation Planning Office at 8026 Main Street, Second Floor, Houma, LA 70360 from 8:00-4:30 Monday through Friday. The Council Community Development and Planning Committee will review the application and public comments on Monday, March 24th at 6:00 p.m., Council Meeting Room, 8026 Main Street, Second Floor, Houma, Louisiana 70360 and the full council on the 26th in the same location. A copy of the application for funding will be available online attached to this notice at www.tpcg.org in the “News and Events” section on the home page and as part of the Council agenda. Terrebonne Parish Consolidated Government encourages the participation of minorities, non-English speaking persons, the disabled, low-income persons, the elderly, residents of public housing developments, community-based organizations, and all others.
