National Night Out Against Crime - October 3, 2017

​The Houma Police Department would like to remind the public of the 2017 National Night Out Against Crime that will be going on throughout the Houma City Limits on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at various locations and times. National Night Out Against Crime is an event where law enforcement and communities come together to get to know each other. 

National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, as well as generate support in anti-crime efforts. This event also strengthens neighborhood spirit and police/community partnerships, which sends a message to criminals that neighborhoods are taking the necessary initiatives to unify with law enforcement to rid their areas of issues that plague them.

Participating neighborhoods within the Houma city limits are asked to turn on their porch lights, lock their doors, and spend the evening with neighbors and the Houma Police Department at various events. Participating neighborhoods will be hosting a variety of events ranging from small potlucks to large block parties.

The participating neighborhoods are identified as follows:

  • High Street NHW group will host their even at the Municipal Auditorium between 6pm and 7:30pm.
  • Maple Association, Jefferson Davis, and Wright Ave NHW groups will host their event ​in Maple Park between 6pm and 7:30pm. 
  • Gazebo NHW will host their event at the Boquet Pavilion which is located on Museum Drive between 5:30pm to 7:30pm.
  • Mandalay Woods NHW will host their event inside entrance of their Subdivision from 5pm to 8pm.
  • Westgate Lagoon NHW and Southdown West NHW will be hosting their event in the Valhi Lagoon Park between the hours of 4:30pm and 6:30pm.
  • Bayou Towers NHW will be hosting their event in Bayou Towers Cafeteria between the hours of 4pm til.
  • Bonne Terre Village/Barataria Station NHW groups will host their event on Barataria Avenue from 5:30pm-6:30pm.
  • East Park NHW will host their event under Twin Span near the East Park and Peach Street intersection between the hours of 6pm and 8pm.
  • Marina NHW will host their event under Twin Span near the Marina Park between the hours of 4pm and 8pm
  • Mechanicville National Night Out will host their event at the Mechanicville Gym between the hours of 6pm and 7pm. Assistant District Attorney Gary Williams Jr. will be the guest speaker at this event.

Tipsters could be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000 in cash if the information leads to an arrest.
