4:00 am Parish President Michel Claudet declared a Parishwide State of Emergency due to severe weather, rainfall and flooding. There are reports that Terrebonne Parish received 8 to 10 inches of rainfall overnight. TPCG Public Works Department has confirmed that all pumps are operational. Terrebonne Parish received concentrated flooding in the areas of Bayou Cane, Hwy 311/Savanne Road and Downtown Houma. TPCG has opened a shelter at the Houma-Terrebonne Civic Center with the assistance of the Red Cross and is currently housing 5 individuals. At this time 10-20 houses are confirmed with flooding but we expect that number to increase. We are asking individuals whose homes have received water to call the Office Of Emergency Preparedness at 873-6357. Approximately 25% of roads in Terrebonne Parish were affected by water ; we are contacting law enforcement agencies to confirm a list of road closures. Currently, Hwy 24 is closed by the UPS in Gray. And the Bayou Gardens Bridge All public and Catholic schools are closed today. TPCG is setting up sandbag locations at the airbase and at the Cannatas on the west-side. Terrebonne Parish Consolidated Government continues to monitor water levels, operation of pumps, and the weather with the National Weather Service.
