TPCG EOC - Parish-wide state of emergency declared

Terrebonne Parish Consolidated Government EMERGENCY OPERATIONS CENTER Executive Order Emergency Operations Center Contact: 985 873-6357 BY ORDER OF THE OFFICE OF THE PARISH PRESIDENT OF TERREBONNE: WHEREAS, due to the potential for elevated tides, heavy rainfall and high winds associated with the developing tropical system in the Gulf of Mexico, the Parish President of Terrebonne seeks to issue an Executive Order on this day, declaring a parish-wide state of emergency; and WHEREAS, due to this developing threat within Terrebonne Parish, Michel Claudet, as Parish President of Terrebonne Parish, seeks to invoke all rights and duties afforded him under Louisiana Revised Statute 29:721 et seq. until further notice; and WHEREAS, Terrebonne Parish Consolidated Government, through Michel Claudet, as Parish President, is empowered to take all necessary measures to ensure the safety, health and welfare of the citizens of Terrebonne Parish, as per law; and WHEREAS, the anticipated effect of the potential for elevated tides, heavy rainfall and high winds upon all of Terrebonne Parish's people and property will require immediate action by Terrebonne Parish Consolidated Government to offset the potentially irreparable damages; and WHEREAS, without immediate and thorough governmental intervention, the natural habitat, intrinsic character and economy of Terrebonne Parish may be detrimentally impacted; and WHEREAS, immediate action by the Parish of Terrebonne is mandatory to fulfill the needs of the people of this Parish until such time as the emergency has subsided; and therefore IT IS ORDERED, that there be a Parish-wide state of emergency as per LARS 29:271 et seq.; and IT IS ORDERED, that the Office of the Parish President invokes all rights and remedies afforded it under all the laws and constitutions of the United States and the State of Louisiana, the Louisiana Revised Statutes, the Terrebonne Parish Charter and Code of Ordinances; and IT IS ORDERED, through the Office of the Parish President, that the Parish initiate all emergency operations plans and commence action to prepare for any potential impacts; and IT IS ORDERED, that all standard local and parish procurement procedures are suspended to ensure the health, safety, and welfare needs of the people and property of Terrebonne Parish while coping with the potential for elevated tides, heavy rainfall and high winds associated with the developing tropical system in the Gulf of Mexico IT IS ORDERED that the Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness Director, Earl Eues, (985) 873-6357, be hereby designated as point of contact; and IT IS ORDERED, that any person or entity that interrupts or interferes with the control of the Parish and/or Parish President shall be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
