Thursday January 25, 2024 06:59 am - 345 Views - Posted By Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Preparedness

Here is an update from the NWS in New Orleans concerning the risk for flash flooding across portions of the area mid to late-week.

Changes since Previous Update:

  • No major changes.

Overview of Impacts:

  • Today will mainly be one round of showers and storms in the form of a line. This line should be more progressive, but still could slow in some areas.
  • The main concern will be any additional rain in the areas that were hit hard yesterday, these will be the areas to watch for flooding today.
  • A few storms may be locally strong to severe today with damaging winds and tornadoes can't be ruled out.
  • Multiple waves of heavy t-storms will persist at times into Friday, before the last round pushes through on Saturday, exiting to the east thereafter.
  •  Additional rises on area rivers/streams will be possible.
  • Dense fog persists this morning in some areas. This should start to clear out later this morning as rain arrives.
