Parish President's Request for Cooperation with Land Burning

Thursday December 14, 2023 11:58 am - 631 Views - Posted By Administration

Parish President Gordon Dove is strongly requesting that residents and landowners refrain from burning open land or marsh land at this time due to extreme drought conditions we are still experiencing in Terrebonne Parish. Coteau Fire Department and Parish government are currently fighting a fire in a wooded area along LA Hwy 182 between Bayou Blue Road (LA Hwy 316) and Coteau Road (LA Hwy 660). Smoke from this fire has caused several accidents and road closures in the past couple of weeks.

Residents and landowners may be held civilly or criminally liable for damages caused by a fire on your property or a fire started by you that causes damage to another person or property.

Your cooperation from unnecessary, open, or uncontained burning during this period of extreme drought is greatly appreciated.
