The Houma Police Department has established the following safety tips to help make this Halloween a safe and enjoyable one. Those participating will be able to enjoy the event between 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Monday, October 31, 2022.

1. Wear light-colored/reflective clothing.
2. Make sure children can see well through face masks.
3. Adults should accompany young children at all times.
4. Carry a flashlight.
5. Stay within the neighborhood and only visit homes you know. Do not approach homes with outside lights that are off.
6. Watch for traffic.
7. Only give and accept wrapped or packaged candy.
8. Examine all candy before allowing children to eat it.
9. Never cross the road between parked cars. Cross only at corners or marked crosswalks.
10. Motorists should exercise extreme caution when driving a vehicle. Be on the alert for excited youngsters darting out into traffic and whose vision may be obscured by masks.
11. Residents are asked to report any suspicious or criminal activity to the Police Department immediately.
