Burn Ban Issued for Terrebonne Parish by State Fire Marshal and Ag/Forestry Commissioner

A burn ban has been issued for Terrebonne Parish by State Fire Marshal "Butch" Browning and Agriculture and Forestry Commissioner Mike Strain after the devastation caused by Hurricane Ida.

Private burning shall ONLY be allowed by permission of the local fire department or local government effective immediately and shall remain in effect
until rescinded.

Damage to Terrebonne's water system leaves many communities in the parish without adequate water services for fire suppression needs.

The use of barbeque grills, fire pits, and small campfires for brief, recreational purposes are allowed and not affected by the burn ban. Violation could result in criminal and/or civil penalties.
