See What Your Local Library Has to Offer This January

Visit your local library this month. Exciting activities are scheduled at each library branch all month. Check out the list below for a few highlights from each location.

Bourg Library

  • Wednesday, Jan. 15, 4 to 5 p.m. Clay Trinket Bowl Workshop (5th to 12th grade)
  • Tuesday, Jan. 28, 4 to 5 p.m. No Sew Snowman (5th to 12th grade)
  • Wednesday, Jan. 29 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Young at Heart Group: Bingo

Chauvin Library

  • Wednesday, Jan. 8, 1 to 4 p.m. Mexican Train Dominos
  • Thursday, Jan. 23, 4 to 5 p.m. Cookie Decorating Fun
  • Tuesday, Jan. 28, 4 to 5 p.m. Microwave Potato Chip: Learn to make potato chips in the microwave and enjoy a test taste afterwards. Potato slices will be precut.

Dulac Library

  • Monday, Jan. 6, 1 to 2 p.m. Glue Resist Watercolor Painting: All supplies are provided.
  • Tuesday, Jan. 7, 4 to 5 p.m. Bad Art Afternoon: Have fun making a bad art winter scene.
  • Wednesday, Jan. 15, 4 to 5 p.m. STEM Challenge: Tallest Newspaper Hat to celebrate National Hat Day

Dularge Library

  • Monday, Jan. 13 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Eager Reader Book Discussion: Black Water Rising by Attica Locke  
  • Monday, Jan. 20, 12:30 to 3 p.m. Penguin Craft & Movie: Happy Feet
  • Thursday, Jan. 23, 4:15 to 5:15 p.m. Perler Bead Craft

East Houma Library

  • Tuesday, Jan. 14, 6 to 7 p.m. Whale Craft for Kids (PreK to 6th grade)
  • Saturday, Jan. 18, all day Winnie the Pooh Day: Fun facts and displays
  • Tuesdays, 10 to 11 a.m. Adult Yoga

Gibson Library

  • Thursday, Jan. 21, 12:30 p.m. Winter Scene Acrylic Painting Class: Registration Required (limit 6). Refreshments will be served.
  • Tuesday, Jan. 28, 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Snowman Story time & Cotton Ball Craft
  • Wednesday, Jan. 29, 4 to 5 p.m. Snowman Photo Magnet Kit: Registration Required.

Main Library

  • Sunday, Jan. 12, 3 to 4 p.m. Escape the Library: Work together as a team to solve clues and unlock the mystery before the time runs out. Registration required. (4th grade and up)
  • Thursday, Jan. 23, 4 to 5 p.m. Dolly Parton’s Birthday Party with Terrebonne Foundation for Academic Excellence: Celebrate Dolly’s birthday with story time, craft, and treats! You can also sign up your children under five to receive free books in the mail through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.
  • Saturdays, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Yoga: Breathe in for a meditative experience with M Power Yoga Houma. Practice will be held out on our lawn or inside during inclement weather. Some mats will be provided, but supplies are limited. Register for the class on the MindBody app.

Montegut Library

  • Thursday, Jan. 2, 2 to 3 p.m. Snowman Tassels
  • Tuesday, Jan. 14, 10 to 11 a.m. Body Scrub
  • Wednesday, Jan. 29, 4 to 5 p.m. Afternoon Coloring & Hot Cocoa (all ages)

North Library

  • Sunday, Jan. 12, 2 to 5 p.m. Make and Take Craft
  • Thursday, Jan. 23, 6 to 7 p.m. Teen DIY Room Décor
  • Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays 6 to 7 p.m. Cardio Line Dancing
