Hazard Mitigation Plan Update 2020 Meeting to be Held Nov. 12

The Terrebonne Parish Consolidated Government is updating the parish’s Hazard Mitigation Plan. The next meeting will from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 12, 2019, at the Bayou Terrebonne Waterlife Museum, 7910 Park Avenue, Houma. The public is encouraged to attend these meetings and provide input and perspective to the planning process.

For this meeting, we will review the existing plan and discuss the progress and events over the last five years. The full process will include assessing the hazard, risk, and problems; setting goals; reviewing possible activities; and drafting the action plan.

The purpose of the plan update is to identify and pursue preventative measures that will reduce future damages from natural hazards. The plan is required by FEMA to be updated every five years. The public is encouraged to participate in any of the meetings.

Please visit the tpcg.org/hmpu for more information and resources. A copy of the current Hazard Mitigation Plan and all other materials that are available on the website will also be available in print at 8026 Main Street on the Second Floor for public review.

Please direct questions about the meeting or process to Jennifer Gerbasi at jgerbasi@tpcg.org or 985-873-6565.  If you have any special needs, please call with 72 hours notice so that we can provide whatever support is necessary.  Call (985) 580-7200 for directions or museum information.
