Reader's Digest Names Houma Nicest Place in Louisiana

Parish President Gordon Dove is proud of his hometown and is pleased to relay this message to all of the residents of Houma and Terrebonne Parish.

Reader’s Digest has just announced it’s annual “Nicest Places in America” for 2019, and the verdict is in - Houma has taken the crown for the state of Louisiana. Every year, Reader’s Digest searches the country to hear first-hand account from locals and visitors to identify friendly places all over the US. The “Nicest Places in America” initiative serves as a reminder to its audience about the good people and good deeds that are out there in the US and inspire people to be better friends, relatives, and neighbors.

But, that’s not all. With this nomination, Houma is also in the running to be named Nicest Place in America, a title rightfully deserved by our area whose vivacious spirit, tenacity, and culture continue to shine despite all circumstance. The winner will be on the cover of the November issue of Reader’s Digest detailing the story that earned them the title.

To get Houma to it’s deserved #1 spot, we will need the help of our Parish and those who love it to vote! Voting is now open and will only remain open until July 21st.
