See What Your Local Library Has to Offer This December

Visit your local library branch this December for more than just a good read. The Terrebonne Parish Library system offers exciting activities at each library branch all month. Check out the list below for a few highlights from each location.

Bourg Library

  • Thurs, 12/6, 3 to 4 p.m. Snowman Ornaments – PreK to 4th grade; Children will make ornaments using battery-operated tea lights and other supplies.
  • Wed, 12/05, 4 to 5 p.m. Upcycled Crayon Ornaments – 5th to 12th; Teens and tweens will make ornaments by melting old crayons.
  • Tues, 12/04 & 12/11, 3 to 5 p.m. Scrapbooking

Chauvin Library

  • Tues, 12/18, 4 to 5 p.m. Make a Christmas Card Workshop
  • Mon, 12/17, 3:30 to 4 p.m. Christmas Gift Craft
  • Wed, 12/05, 1 to 3 p.m. Crochet group and Dominoes

Dulac Library

  • Thurs, 12/13, 4 to 5 p.m. Pancakes and Pajamas – Join the party for an afternoon of fun and make a family photo ornament!
  • Tues, 12/04, 4 to 5 p.m. Bead Work Practice – Supplies will be provided
  • Thurs, 12/06, 4 to 5 p.m. Community History Presentation

Dularge Library

  • Wed, 12/12, 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Christmas Story/Craft Time
  • Thursdays, all day Pick a Craft or Board Game
  • Mon, 12/03, 7 to 9 p.m. Showing Off on the Bayou – An art show and reception featuring projects made by patrons of the library. Art work, quilts, crafts, and even Lego creations from local children will be on display. Refreshments served.

East Houma Library

  • Sat, 12/22, 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Polar Express Movie – All ages
  • Thurs, 12/13 & 12/27, 6 to 7:30 p.m. Teen Wii Gaming and Crafts
  • Sat, 12/22, 4 to 5 p.m. Holiday Adult Craft

Gibson Library

  • Tues, 12/11, 12 to 12:30 p.m. Christmas Tree Craft
  • Wed, 12/18, 3 to 4:15 p.m. Tri-Bead Wreath Craft – Registration required, limit 6
  • Tues, 12/18, 12:30 p.m. Scrabble Club

Main Library

  • Fri, 12/21, 4 p.m. until Sat morning Pajama Party and Stuffed Animal Sleepover - Celebrate the first day of Winter with a special pajama party and stuffed animal sleepover. There will be a themed story time, crafts, and snacks. Be sure to bring your favorite stuffed animal with you so that they can celebrate by sleeping over at the library! You will be able to pick them up first thing on Saturday morning.
  • Thurs, 12/20, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. ECHO – End of the Year Social
  • Sat, 12/15, 6 to 8:30 p.m. Harry Potter Yule Ball - It doesn't matter whether you are Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, Slytherin, or Gryffindor -- adults of all sorts are invited to this special after-hours social event. Dress fancy, be merry, and don't forget to register for this beautiful holiday formal.

Montegut Branch

  • Thurs, 12/06, 4 to 5 p.m. Crab Shell Ornaments
  • Thurs, 12/13, 4 to 5 p.m. Science Afternoon – 7th to 12th Grade
  • Thurs, 12/20, 1 to 2 p.m. Afternoon Christmas Coloring

North Branch

  • Sun, 12/30, 3 to 4 p.m. Mini-NYE – Help us ring in the New Year
  • Wed, 12/05 & 12/19, 6 to 6:45 p.m. Zumba – Join staff in a low-key and friendly work out set to awesome music.
  • Sun, 12/09, 3 to 3:45 p.m. SLCO Youth Orchestra – Children’s Violin concert
