Help Southern University Gather Information on Businesses Coping During Major Floods

Do you have a business that is at risk of flooding or has flooded in the past? Researchers from Southern University at New Orleans would like to interview you on how your business survived. Interviews are from 1 to 4 p.m. on the following dates:

  • Monday, November 26, 2018, at the Ward 7 Center, 5006 LA 56, Chauvin
  • Tuesday, November 27, 2018, at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 1331 Dr. Beatrous Rd, Dularge

The study aims to build a database of how businesses have coped during and after major floods, using it to assist in future disaster situations. Research questions include:

  • What assistance was received from governments, not-for-profit organizations, faith-based organizations, and community-based organizations?
  • What are the stressors, and how can they be reduced or eliminated to help businesses bounce back sooner?
  • What are the major risks that threatened the business?
  • What made it possible for some businesses to bounce back and others not to do so?

Please call TEDA at 985-873-6890 with any questions or to pre-register for an interview. Walk-ins are welcome. Light refreshments will be provided.
