See What Your Local Library Has to Offer This September

Spend some time at your local library branch this September. The Terrebonne Parish Library system has many exciting activities lined up at each library branch all month long. Check out the list below for a few highlights from each location.

Bourg Library

  • Thurs, 9/6, 3 to 4 p.m. Craft Workshop – Grandparents Day crafts for PreK - 4th grade
  • Thurs, 9/20, 4 to 5 p.m. Craft Workshop – DIY frosted glass for 5th-12th grade
  • Thurs, 9/20, 1 to 2 p.m. Tablet How-To – For adults to learn to use their tablets

Chauvin Library

  • Thurs, 9/4, 4 to 5 p.m. Kids’ Lego Club
  • Tues, 9/11, 4 to 5 p.m. Craft Workshop – Patriotic paper wreath craft

Dulac Library

  • Weds, 9/12, 4 to 5 p.m. After-School STEM Project ­– Newspaper houses
  • Tues, 9/18, 4 to 5 p.m. Effective Study Skills Workshop ­– Tips on how to take notes/remember what you learn and resources that can help
  • Thurs, 9/27, 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Coffee and Conversation – Group discussion about the history of Grand Caillou and Dulac

Dularge Library

  • Mon, 9/10, 1:30 to 3 p.m. Book Discussion – “A Wrinkle in Time” by Madeline L’Engle
  • Thurs, 9/13 and 9/27, 4 to 5:30 p.m. Craft and Board Game – 7th graders and up can pick a craft or board game to play

East Houma Library

  • Sat, 9/8, 2 to 3 p.m. Children’s Book Bingo
  • Thurs, 9/20, 2 to 3 p.m. Job Search Workshop – For adults to learn new websites and resources
  • Sat, 9/22, 2 to 4 p.m. Wii Gaming and Crafts – For teens to play games, make crafts, and share ideas

Gibson Library

  • Tues, 9/4, 12 to 12:30 p.m. Craft Workshop – Grandparents Day card crafting
  • Weds, 9/12, 12:30 p.m. Craft Workshop – National Library Card Sign Up Month craft – bookmarks and bracelets (registration required)

Main Library

  • Sat, 9/8, 2 to 5 p.m. Game Day with Bayou Boarding – Choose from one of the library’s board games or bring your own game to share
  • Thurs, 9/13, 6:30 to 8 p.m. Writers’ Unite – Creative writing for teens
  • Fri, 9/14, 6 to 8:30 p.m. Back to the 90s Night – After-hours celebration of the 1990s including refreshments, crafts, and a movie (adults only)

Montegut Library

  • Mon, 9/10, 4 to 5 p.m. Science Afternoon – 7th-12th grade
  • Thurs, 9/20, 4 to 5 p.m. Craft Workshop – Pepperoni pizza craft for PreK-6th grade

North Library

  • Sun, 9/9, 4 to 4:45 p.m. Teddy Bear Day – Children are invited to bring their best pal (teddy bear or other stuffed friend) for a special story time
  • Fri, 9/14, 4 to 5 p.m. DIY Room Décor – Create a fake cactus plant for your room
  • Mon, 9/17, 4 to 5 p.m. Louisiana Connections – Read nonfiction books with a Louisiana connection; this month’s book is “Dr. Mary’s Monkey: How the Unsolved Murder of a Doctor, a Secret Laboratory in New Orleans, and Cancer-Causing Monkey Viruses are Linked to Lee Harvey Oswald, the JFK Assassination, and Emerging Global Epidemics” by Edward Haslam
