Vessels from East and West Louisiana will meet at the Houma Downtown Marina and raft up to form a flotilla demarcating the front line in the battle to save America's WETLAND. The event will feature live music by local celebrities, a boat parade, food, games and fun for the whole family both on water and land. Everyone is invited to participate in this event, by submitting a letter for their congressman on why they should make saving Louisiana's coast a priority.

The La-Terre Master Gardeners and LSU AgCenter, in cooperation with the USDA Experimental Station, will hold a Vegetable Field Day (formerly known as Tomato Field Day) at the USDA Experimental Station on the corner of Lafayette St. and Hwy. 311 in Houma, LA. Time: 9 AM to 12 Noon. It will feature the display and tasting of 25 tomato varieties, eggplant, squash, sweet peppers, cucumbers, and green beans. The event is geared to the home gardener with much discussion and free horticultural information. There will also be a tour of the USDA facility and a contest for the largest and the ugliest tomato. Free concert to the public. Music will be provided by Southern Cross. No Ice Chests or Beverages Allowed. Guests can bring lawn chairs. Money generated from concerts pays for the bands
All parts of the Fourth of July event are free and open to the public. The celeration kicks off at 5 p.m. with a ceremony at Veterans Memorial Park on LA. 311. The Patriots Parade bagins at Veternas Park immediately following the ceremony. Following the arade,crowds can enjoy free food, live music and fireworks in the Civic Center parking lot. The Houma-Terrebonne Community Band and Louisiana's Rockin' Fiddler, Waylon Thibodaux are scheduled to perform.
