What to know before you buy or build

There are always risks involved in owning a home or business including wind, fire or water damage from a flood or storm. Protect your investments by looking into the history of the buildings you might buy or build based on past damages and predictions of future threats. Your floodplain manager in the Department of Planning and Zoning can provide the flood zone and height for any property in the Parish. The flood history has to come from the seller or agent.
